Zlatni Rat is one of the most beautiful sandy beaches in Croatia

(Patria) - Zlatni Rat in Bol is changing its shape. Locals claim tourism is to blame, and they have launched a petition to stop the large number of anchorages right next to the shore during the summer.

A study of anchorages in Split-Dalmatia County recommended excluding Zlatni Rat as an anchorage area, given that its mainland is a protected area appreciated by many guests.

The mayor of Bol, Katarina Marčić, says that changes to Zlatni Rat have been occurring for some time and that this is almost exclusively due to climate change.



She added that there is no significant human factor that has influenced the appearance of Zlatni Rat in recent years.

Foreigners have praised Zlatni Rat beach on several occasions. It is located in Bol, on the southern coast of Brač.

It can be reached by car or by walking along the sea, and during the summer months, a tourist train runs to the beach every half hour.

This beach is a symbol of Brač. Many call it a "paradise beach" and one of the most beautiful pebble beaches on the Croatian coast.

The renowned travel portal Lonely Planet ranked this beach as the most beautiful beach in Croatia.

"The most photographed beach in Croatia never disappoints. Follow the pine-scented promenade from coastal Bol to this beautiful expanse of fine, soft pebbles, lapped by blue sea.

Its stunning V-shape changes and shifts with the tides and currents of the Adriatic Sea. The windy eastern side of the beach is a top spot for surfers," they wrote in their article.



The global travel platform Big 7 Travel included Zlatni Rat on its list of the 12 most beautiful beaches in the world in 2022. It was the only Croatian beach on that list.

"The golden horn-shaped beach is Croatia's most spectacular beach. It's not just its shape that makes it so beautiful and unique.

The sandy beach is surrounded by crystal-clear sea whose color changes from turquoise to dark blue in just 10 or 20 meters. Decades-old pines provide shade, but here you won't want to leave the warm sea," they wrote, as reported by Index.hr.
