Troika MPs Propose Coefficient Amendments: Policeman's Salary Increased by 12.60 KM, Chief Inspector by 126 KM!

(Patria) - The same three MPs who, without consulting police unions, initiated urgent amendments to the Law on Police Officers of BiH, have done the same with amendments to the Law on Salaries and Allowances in BiH Institutions. Thus, MPs from the Troika parties, Nihad Omerović, Predrag Kojović, and Jasmin Imamović, requested that the law be considered under an urgent procedure.

Those who analyzed the proposed coefficients were surprised by the extent of the salary "increase" planned for police officers and military personnel covered by this law.

Thus, a coefficient of 1.82 is planned for a policeman, 1.97 for a senior policeman, and 2.12 for a sergeant. According to current provisions, the coefficient for a policeman is 1.80, for a senior policeman 1.95, and for a sergeant 2.10, which is an increase of 0.02 for these three ranks. Therefore, if these amendments are adopted in both houses of the BiH Parliament, the salary for a policeman, senior policeman, and sergeant will increase by 12.60 KM. With police powers, this will be 17 KM.

For higher ranks, the coefficient for senior sergeant, junior inspector, and inspector has been increased by 0.20.

Coefficients for senior inspector, independent inspector, and chief inspector, which are the highest-paid ranks, have been increased by 0.17 for senior inspector, and by 0.20 each for independent and chief inspector.

According to the new coefficients, the salary of a chief inspector will be increased by 126 KM, and with years of service and powers, it will amount to up to 171 KM.

Old and New Coefficients

Considering the proposed amendments to the Law on Police Officers of BiH, which plan to extend the working life of police officers up to the age of 60, it is evident that these changes would most benefit police officers in the highest ranks. These are not the officers who secure facilities, arrest criminals, guard borders, or provide VIP escorts, but rather those who sit in warm offices.

The fact that both laws were proposed without consultation with the unions of the three police agencies clearly reveals the initiators of the legal amendments.

The next session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament is scheduled for December 12th.
