HDZ Representatives, Delegates, Ministers Write to EU Leaders: We Were Outvoted, Bosniaks Control Russian Gas, Murphy is Also to Blame!

(Patria) - The caucuses of representatives and delegates of HDZ-HNS in the House of Representatives and the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament, as well as HDZ ministers in the Government of the Federation of BiH, have sent a letter to European officials led by President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.

The letter, which Patria has seen, was also sent to President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola, President of the European Council Antonio Costa, Head of the EU Delegation to BiH Luigi Soreca, embassies accredited in BiH, and the Croatian Ambassador to BiH Ivan Sabolić.

As stated in the letter sent after the adoption of the Bill on the "South Interconnection Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia" Gas Pipeline in the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament, they demand from European officials and ambassadors protection of democratic principles and political rights of Croats in BiH, who are also citizens of the European Union, due to severe attacks on democracy, constitutional and parliamentary principles.

“Prompted by the events at the last session of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, where the Law on the South Gas Interconnection of BiH and Croatia” was adopted by outvoting all representatives of parties of Croatian nationality. The law was proposed by SDA (Party of Democratic Action), which is not part of the parliamentary majority in this entity, as well as by outvoting Croatian ministers in the Government of the Federation of BiH during the adoption of legal solutions that would reflect the will of all voters of the people and all other citizens of BiH, we call on you to put a stop to the severe attacks on democratic processes, constitutional and parliamentary principles in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

By the will of the Bosniak majority, which operates and monitors the flow of Russian gas in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in a completely non-transparent manner, and with the inappropriate interference and approval of the US Ambassador to BiH, Michael Murphy, any possibility of finding a solution acceptable to all future gas users through the interconnection project via the Republic of Croatia has been rejected. Our aspiration to see this project, which we fully support in terms of its significance for the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, realized to the satisfaction of all, through political and parliamentary dialogue and consensus, has been transformed into an blatant outvoting of all legitimately elected Croatian political representatives and delegates, both in the Government and in the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

By disregarding the fundamental principles of agreement and consensus, upon which the European Union itself is built, to which Bosnia and Herzegovina aspires to join, as well as the basic principles of establishing a transparent and regulated gas market, the majority of representatives in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina are attempting to impose a legal solution on this within the entity.

This solution has not been negotiated or agreed upon with the representatives and delegates of one of the constituent peoples in Bosnia and Herzegovina, thereby undermining the coalition of parties that have formed the government in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Based on the fact that our constitutional rights have been severely violated by such political attacks on democratic principles, we call on the EU leaders and ambassadors of EU member states in Bosnia and Herzegovina to put an end to the severe violation of democratic principles and political rights of citizens of the European Union", the letter states.

In the letter, they ask European officials if a country where the political rights of one constituent people are violated, where the Constitution and democratic principles are ignored, can become a member of the European Union.
