(Patria) - After the canopy at the Novi Sad railway station collapsed, killing 15 people due to the negligence and corruption of the current regime, under public pressure, citizen protests, the regime of Aleksandar Vučić forced two ministers to resign.
Four days after the tragedy, the Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Construction, Goran Vesić, while explaining why he was resigning, said that he felt no ounce of responsibility, and that he would "remember" certain members of the Serbian Progressive Party who had "demanded his head".
The public in Serbia waited a full 19 days for the resignation of the second minister, Tomislav Momirović, writes Danas.rs.
In the meantime, mass demonstrations, blockades of institutions, regime repression, and numerous arrests of politicians and activists, as well as free-thinking citizens, have occurred.
It seemed that Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Serbia, would not "give up" Momirović either, but it is assumed that the determination of the opposition to put their backs into it and block institutions, as well as the anger of the citizens, forced him to do so.
This minister, loyal to Vučić, as he stated in his resignation, also feels no responsibility or remorse.
After opposition MPs expressed their determination and began motivating citizens to disobedience, the President of Serbia held a press conference on November 19.
He addressed the public with dramatic announcements of a nuclear catastrophe in the world and his efforts to increase the number of shelters across Serbia in case such a war broke out.
However, immediately in the morning, a large number of opposition MPs found themselves in front of the court and prosecutor's office in Novi Sad, demanding independence, an investigation, and the arrest of those responsible for the crime at the railway station.
The police used force and injured several of them. Not only in Novi Sad, but also at the blockade of the demolition of the Sava Bridge in Belgrade.
In addition to Tomislav Momirović, Jelena Tanasković, director of Serbian Railways Infrastructure, also resigned yesterday.
Due to the lack of reaction from the Serbian Chamber of Engineers to the deaths of 15 people on November 1 in Novi Sad, Novi Sad architect Lazar Kuzmanov also resigned yesterday from his position as a member of the Chamber of Engineers' Commission for conducting professional exams and issuing licenses.
