(Patria) - Citizens and students in several cities across Serbia have been organizing street and intersection blockades since last night, demanding the release of arrested colleagues and the calling of early elections through peaceful protests and civil disobedience. The blockades continued today.
Several hundred citizens, who had previously blocked the Terazije tunnel, have moved the blockade to the intersection of Makedonska and Dečanska streets, near the Belgrade Youth Center. As they announced, this is a mobile protest and they will move every time the police arrive at the location. The Gendarmerie is present with riot control equipment.
MP Slavica Radovanović of the "Solution for Serbia – Expertise" movement announced today that she will not participate in the work of the Serbian Parliament as long as the repression against students continues and those responsible for the brutal use of force are not sanctioned.
In Novi Sad, the intersection in front of the Misdemeanor Court, where a student of the Faculty of Philosophy is to be brought, is also blocked.
Around 3 PM, students in Subotica blocked traffic in the city center near Štrosmajerova Street. They are carrying out the blockade by repeatedly crossing the pedestrian crossing.
