Gendarmerie disperses demonstrations in Belgrade with swift action, citizens mostly disperse

(Patria) - After a double warning, members of the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs Gendarmerie, with a lightning-fast operation through several streets and directions, managed to push back citizens from the area where the Vidovdan student protest was held today, after which clashes between citizens and police occurred.

According to media reports and activists on social networks, several people were arrested, and there are also injured.



As they retreated from the city center, citizens occasionally attempted to resist the police by barricading streets with containers and metal fences, but they still moved with every movement of the police cordons.

Tear gas was fired multiple times, and firecrackers and bombs were heard, while bottles and stones were thrown at the police.



It is currently calm in the center of Belgrade, and the police continue to "clear" the side streets of Belgrade.

According to N1 reporters during tonight's events, among the injured are students and media workers.
