(Patria) - Police officers of the Zagreb Police Department arrested a 45-year-old citizen of Montenegro, a 46-year-old citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina and a 46-year-old citizen of Serbia, the Zagreb Police Department announced today.
As stated, based on targeted information gathering, police officers learned that a citizen of Montenegro, wanted under an international warrant by Interpol Belgrade for the criminal offense of unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs, and a citizen of BiH, wanted under an international warrant by Interpol Sarajevo for a criminal offense in the domain of drug abuse committed as part of a criminal organization, were located in the Zagreb area.
The criminal investigation began on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, in the morning hours when police officers of the Criminal Police Sector of the Zagreb Police Department located the three suspects in a catering facility in the Trnje area.
Namely, during a check of their identities in the said facility, the 45-year-old citizen of Montenegro and the 46-year-old citizen of BiH, with the aim of concealing their identities, i.e., falsely representing themselves, presented forged travel documents of Serbia to the police officers.
The three men were arrested and brought to the official police premises, where a criminal investigation was conducted against them.
Upon completion of the criminal investigation, suspicion was confirmed that the 45-year-old citizen of Montenegro and the 46-year-old citizen of BiH committed the criminal offense of document forgery, while the 46-year-old citizen of Serbia committed the criminal offense of aiding in document forgery.
At the same time, there is reasonable suspicion that the 45-year-old citizen of Montenegro and the 46-year-old citizen of BiH jointly committed the criminal offense of manufacturing, procuring, possessing, selling or making available means for forgery, as well as unauthorized production and trafficking of drugs.
During the criminal investigation, police officers, based on a warrant from the County Court in Zagreb, searched a rented apartment in the Trnje area, and found 3,813 grams of cannabis resin type drug, 21.61 grams of cocaine, 11 electronic cigarettes filled with a liquid of as yet unknown chemical composition (most likely cannabis oil), a digital scale, paraphernalia with traces of drugs, money suspected to have been obtained from drug sales, and equipment and items intended for forgery.
After the completion of the criminal investigation, a criminal complaint was filed against the suspects with the competent state prosecutor's office.
The suspect, a 46-year-old citizen of BiH, was handed over to the detention supervisor, while the 45-year-old citizen of Montenegro and the 46-year-old citizen of Serbia were taken to the County Court in Zagreb to initiate extradition proceedings, the statement said.
