ZAGREB On St. Mark's Square, a man doused himself with gasoline and set himself on fire, in critical condition

(Patria) - On the south side of St. Mark's Square in Zagreb, where the Croatian Government is located, an unknown person doused themselves with gasoline and set themselves on fire.

"The man is in critical condition and his life is in danger. He was transported to the burn treatment center at the Traumatology Hospital," said Health Minister Vili Beroš.

The police have closed access to St. Mark's Square. The only exception is for residents for whom passage has been secured.

A witness told Jutarnji list that they noticed a man in a visibly disturbed state dousing himself with liquid in the immediate vicinity of the government building. Security was quickly informed of this action. Before they could approach him, the man was already engulfed in flames.

Police officers began extinguishing him before the arrival of the ambulance and firefighters.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenković also appeared at the scene. He was accompanied by several other government members.
