(Patria) - Aleksandar Vulin, President of the Movement of Socialists and former high-ranking official of Serbia and close associate of Aleksandar Vučić's regime, as well as a member of the Senate of the Bosnian-Herzegovinian entity Republika Srpska, has stated that the time has come for a change in Serbia's national policy.
He believes that "the people should decide on the key foreign policy direction in a binding referendum with a clear question: European Union or Serbian World".
In an op-ed for "Večernje novosti", Vulin stated that European integration, in his opinion, is "in direct conflict with the idea of uniting Serbs", and that Serbia's decisions so far have been largely conditioned by the path towards the EU.
He emphasized that a change in national policy cannot be the result of elections and pre-election programs, but exclusively the will of the majority of citizens expressed in a referendum.
According to him, the citizens of Serbia should for the first time clearly declare whether they see their future in the European Union or in the concept of the so-called "Serbian World" and different integrations.
