(Patria) - MP in the National Assembly of RS Nebojša Vukanović claims he was detained and thoroughly searched at the border with Serbia.
- Last night I announced that I would come to Serbia, to report first-hand to my followers about the student protests, which I plan to follow on Friday, and I had a previously arranged interview recording, and incidentally watching Zvezda in the Euroleague, but apparently the Service read the announcement and gave me a special welcome at the border - said Vukanović.
He points out that he crossed the Vardište border crossing near Višegrad around 2 p.m.
- As soon as they looked at the documents for about 10 minutes upon entering Serbia, at the Kotroman border crossing near Užice, I knew that the Security Information Agency of Serbia (BIA) had left some note next to my name.
The border policewoman asked me where I was traveling and how long I was staying in Serbia, whether I was a citizen of Serbia and whether I had brought my Serbian passport, because I handed over my BiH ID card, and she told me to park to the side and wait for the police to conduct a search.
First, they thoroughly searched the hand luggage, jacket and belongings, and then the vehicle. I must emphasize that the Serbian border police officers were very correct and professional, says Vukanović, adding that he waited in the car for 40 minutes, although he was told the checks would take a few minutes.
- Then I asked the police why they were detaining me and humiliating me with a search, knowing that I am a representative in the National Assembly of RS and the leader of a parliamentary party. I received an answer that they had to act that way and that they would let us go when the checks were completed and they received approval from Belgrade.
Such behavior at the border is not a surprise, because I was humiliated in a similar way during the so-called All-Serbian Assembly in Belgrade, where we were shown at every step that we are unwelcome, and the reason is probably that we do not listen and are not under the control of the BIA and the authorities in Serbia…
If I did not have Serbian citizenship, I probably would not have entered Serbia today, this way they had no choice but to detain me and search me at the border - concluded Vukanović in a post on his blog.
