Vučić: Serbia demands a UN Security Council session

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today that Serbia will request an urgent session of the UN Security Council on Monday.

He said he has written a letter regarding the current situation which will be sent to all EU member state representatives, EU institution representatives, as well as the presidents and prime ministers of all Security Council member states, including Russia and China, "whom we have informed in internal consultations about how concerned we are".

Vučić added that all signed agreements in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue implied Serbia's right to finance certain activities – healthcare, education, pensions for the Serbian population.

- This right has not been questioned by any act - Vučić said in an address to the media in Belgrade regarding Pristina's decision to abolish the dinar.

He stated that there will be no talks between the National Bank of Serbia and the Central Bank of Kosovo on this topic, and that Pristina, when requesting such talks, is actually seeking recognition.

- We believe that Kurti's regime will continue with obstructions and new tricks - said the Serbian President.

He stated that Serbia will pay almost 22 million euros in advance to Kosovo Serbs for salaries, pensions, and other benefits.

- We have started paying salaries, pensions, and social benefits to our people in Kosovo in advance, long before the due date for February payments. By 12 PM, we have managed to pay around five million - said Vučić.

Vučić said that 922 business entities at the bank 'Poštanska štedionica' will not be able to have dinar income, and that this is an "additional blow to economic movements in Serbian communities".

Let us remind you, yesterday the implementation of the Central Bank regulation began in Kosovo, which makes the euro the only permitted currency.

Previously, on Tuesday, Vučić held an urgent meeting with certain ministers of the Serbian government to agree on the next steps Belgrade will take due to the abolition of the dinar in Kosovo.

On this occasion, he also met yesterday with the ambassadors of the Quint – Great Britain, France, Italy, and Germany, the head of the EU delegation, and a representative of the US Embassy in Belgrade.

Yesterday, Vučić also discussed the possible consequences of the decision by the authorities in Pristina to abolish the dinar with the Ambassador of Russia, Aleksandar Bocan-Harčenko.
