(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated today, during a 50-minute monologue-like address to the nation, that some surprising decisions by the state regarding civil protests will be seen in the next three to four days.
During his address, Vučić said that after that, the state will embark on decisive action.
"In those three to four days, it will seem to you that the state does not exist, that we have been defeated, but after that, you will see the determination to restore peace, order, and discipline to our country," Vučić said.
He stated that the country is endangered, as is democracy.
"Belgrade is empty. No one can earn their living because street gangs rule, thinking they have the right to burn and destroy. Tens of thousands of illegal criminal gatherings from the beginning," he added.
The state's response, as he emphasized, will be much different from what it has been so far.
Throughout his address, Vučić accused students and protesting citizens of destroying the state, comparing them to fascists and Nazis.
Responding to journalists' questions, he said that the introduction of a state of emergency had not been considered.
During his address, he stated that "education is destroyed" and that "faculties have been turned into dens and pigsties".
Several times during his address, Vučić accused the protesting people of wanting to kill someone. He said that in Novi Sad they wanted to "kill 300 people".
"They almost killed 300 people that evening in Novi Sad. And they claimed it was terrible that these people were defending themselves in their own homes. That's why they went to burn them alive! By chance, we avoided a huge tragedy! Miloš Vučević, his associates, and about 200 other people were supposed to die. They did not learn from that, but they are starting to burn even more fiercely. Then they came the next evening, there were no people then, but they were irritated by the glass and the lock, so they broke everything. We told people not to risk their lives. In Valjevo, they almost burned people, they were throwing Molotov cocktails," said Vučić.
