Vučić presented economic measures: Significant price reduction for 3,000 products

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić today presented the long-announced measures that should contribute to the reduction of prices of basic foodstuffs.

- Next week we are bringing a Decree on limiting margins. We will significantly limit margins, which will bring a significant price reduction for about 3,000 products from 23 groups - said Vučić.

He stated that these include household chemicals, personal hygiene products. And there are also rice, legumes, salty and sweet confectionery products, vegetables and fruits, vinegar, pasta, meat, cheese, eggs…

According to him, these measures represent only the first part of the program, while the rest will be presented in September.

He said that this part of the measures focuses on five areas: limiting trade margins, amending the law on execution and security, reducing interest rates on loans, reducing the effect of electricity price increases, and reducing the prices of firewood.

- Today is my most complicated task, I have been preparing for several days and working with all the people from the ministries, so that we can present a part of what we are doing - said Vučić.

He also explained that the state made a mistake during the first price limitation for basic foodstuffs, emphasizing that large retail chains had a different goal to which they approached almost like the mafia, raising prices of other foodstuffs that were not included in the state's measures.

He announced that a decree on margin limitation will be adopted as early as next week, and added that prices in non-specialized stores, i.e. markets, will be significantly reduced, and that this concerns 3,000 products, or 23 groups of products.
