Vučić begins consultations on the mandate holder of the new Serbian government

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić began consultations today on the candidate for the new prime minister, following the parliamentary elections held on December 17 last year, reports RSE.

In the Presidency building in Belgrade, Vučić held the first consultations with representatives of the electoral list "The Political Struggle of Albanians Continues - Shaip Kamberi".

MP Shaip Kamberi, after consultations with Vučić, told reporters in front of the Presidency building that it is not an option for the list "The Political Struggle of Albanians Continues", which he led in the December elections, to be part of the new Serbian government.

Kamberi said that it is necessary to first implement the political "seven-point plan that is about ten years old" regarding the integration of Albanians into state bodies.

He added that he received a promise from Vučić that the plan would be implemented, but it remains to be seen what steps the new Serbian government will take.

- It is not normal that Albanians are underrepresented in all state institutions, at the local and regional level, while we are asked to be included in the central level - said Kamberi.

His list won one seat out of 250 parliamentary seats in the Serbian Assembly.

Vučić also held consultations today with representatives of the list "Russian Party - Slobodan Nikolić", who also won one seat in the Serbian Assembly in the parliamentary elections.

The list bearer Slobodan Nikolić told reporters after consultations with Vučić that the Russian electoral list, which he led, is not interested in a ministerial or state secretary position in the new government, but rather a role in the Serbian Assembly related to relations with Russia.

- I would like to be on the commission that monitors the work of the Collective Security Treaty Organization or the president of the parliamentary Friendship Group with Russia, which is natural - said Nikolić.

He emphasized that he supported Vučić's stance against imposing sanctions on Russia and for preserving the territorial integrity of the state, against Kosovo's independence.
