Vučić on Picula: It's not the problem that he is Croatian, but his views

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that he "understood very well the message" sent by the European Parliament with the election of its new rapporteur for Serbia, but that he would cooperate with him.

The new rapporteur for Serbia is Tonino Picula, and Vučić said he would cooperate with him.

“You know that Kaja Kallas is the head of security and foreign affairs of the European Union. The main man is Matije Masikas, also from Estonia. As rapporteur for Kosovo in the EP, as I hear, it will again be an Estonian. An Estonian is the head of the office of the High Commissioner in Kosovo. Again an Estonian, very strange. And they gave us a Croatian. Thank you very much! It's not the problem that he is Croatian, but his views,” said Vučić.

MEP from the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (SD) Tonino Picula announced that he has been appointed permanent rapporteur of the European Parliament (EP) for Serbia.

Picula has been an MEP since 2013, and has been a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee (AFET) since then. He will succeed Slovak MEP from the European People's Party (EPP) group, Vladimír Bilčík, in the position of rapporteur for Serbia. He was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia in the government of Ivica Račan (2000-2003), a member of the Croatian Parliament, and a representative of the Croatian Parliament in the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE.

The European People's Party received the positions of rapporteurs for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo.
