(Patria) - "Analyzing all our mistakes, 10 years ago we made an agreement, and that is that regardless of all differences or mutual relations, our people must not suffer and that something bad about RS must never be heard in Serbia and vice versa. We have often been ashamed of our people from Krajina, to the point that we always have something to say about those on the other side of the Drina. I am proud to have been born in Belgrade, but you have never heard me say that I am better or greater than someone else because of it, I have always felt like a Serb from across the Drina," said Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić after the session of the two governments, Serbia and the BiH entity Republika Srpska, which marked the beginning of the First All-Serbian Assembly (read Greater-Serbian Assembly).
At the very beginning, Vučić touched upon the situation in Kosovo, stating that he will never allow it to be left without its name and surname and "without the Serbian state, however difficult it may be".
He added that it was not difficult to guess what would happen in the world when "force clashes with force" and that the events in Ukraine are leading Serbia into catastrophe.
"We are probably champions in the number of wars we have fought in the 20th century. The greatest Serbian interest is preserving peace," said Vučić, concluding that dialogue is the only method for reaching a solution between Serbia and Albania, and that "there is no other solution but to respect the agreement, the formation of the CSM, and everything else."
"In the Declaration itself, words were carefully chosen, we have accepted certain requests from Republika Srpska, because we believe that this is a gathering, we have accepted it because we cannot be the ones to tell people from RS that we know their problems better than they do," stated Vučić.
"Do not worry, those who asked for the Declaration not to be adopted, I was firm. The Serbian national interest is something we spoke about equally, and that is the economy. We called it EXPO 27, the economic progress of each of our people and of Serbia and RS is of vital interest to all of us, and that is what gives us strength," he said.
"We were exposed to severe pressure regarding Kosovo in the Council of Europe, despite them not fulfilling anything from the agreement, and the adoption of the Resolution on Srebrenica, which was a place of terrible and horrific things, and we condemn it. But we could never get an answer to one question – if the general resolution on genocides committed in all parts of the world was adopted in 2015, why did a specific one have to be adopted nine years later? Another question is whether this Resolution brought reconciliation to BiH or the region? It did not, so why did you adopt it?" asked the Serbian president.
Precisely because of that, as Vučić further concluded, so that we would clash and then "the 'peacemakers' from the world would come and set the rules as they see fit".
Aleksandar Vučić stated that there is no word about secession in the Declaration, noting that he "does not want to get into an internal problem" and that he hopes Republika Srpska will manage to resolve the problem it has peacefully.
"This Declaration refers to Dayton, and as far as I'm concerned, we don't even need to hold this conference, because we will say most of it now. So, we refer to Dayton, we clearly know that we signed it, not as a casual passerby but as a guarantor, and they will tell us, 'but you are not a guarantor'," said Vučić.
