Vučić: I expect a new government by March 15

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić expects the new Serbian government to be formed by March 15.

Addressing reporters after the Western Balkans - EU meeting in Skopje, Vučić said that the constitutive session of the new convocation of the Serbian Parliament can be expected from February 1.

- We must react quickly and adopt numerous legal norms related to EXPO and the plan we presented two days ago. This is of crucial importance to us - stated Vučić.

He announced that the first piles at the EXPO construction site will be placed in a few days.

Asked about the demands of some opposition parties to send an international observation mission to Serbia due to alleged electoral irregularities, Vučić said that the recent elections held on December 17 were "the cleanest and with the fewest complaints" since the restoration of the multi-party system.

- Serbia is a sovereign country and these were the cleanest elections since the multi-party system has existed and with the fewest complaints.

I am not interested in being a babysitter and midwife to those who lose elections for the tenth or fifteenth time and have to justify themselves to their own voters.

As for improving the electoral process, I am always ready to discuss it - adds Vučić.

Speaking about the Council of Europe report, Vučić said that it contained many more positive things and that there were praises for the state's conduct on election day and during the electoral process.

Vučić conveyed that he discussed with the Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, James O'Brien, the announcement by the Pristina authorities to abolish payment operations with Serbia.

- We will continue consultations on this matter in the coming days - added Vučić.
