Vučić after National Security Council meeting: We are preparing to defend against those who openly threaten our country

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated after today's session of the National Security Council that discussions covered regional military and political security, the energy situation, and the US action in Venezuela.

He assessed that it is clear that the world is dominated by the rule of force, the rule of the stronger.

- It is enough to look at how certain representatives of European institutions react to Venezuela. They dare not say it outright, because they do not know what will happen with Greenland. You see that there are no principles.

We are particularly concerned about the further arming of Pristina, contrary to Resolution 1244. It has been de facto suspended by strong powers and certain regional players such as Turkey.

They are rapidly arming Pristina, and a particular threat to security and territorial integrity and sovereignty is posed by the Pristina-Tirana-Zagreb alliance and the development of joint complex combat systems.

Whoever is stronger, oppresses, and that is the only principle of modern politics that currently exists in the world - Vučić believes.



He also said that Serbia is monitoring this with attention - "we are already preparing to defend against those who openly issue threats to our country and we believe that our strength will be a sufficient deterrent factor."

Vučić explains that certain conclusions were reached at today's session of the National Security Council.

- We are aware of the complexity and intricacy that our country has in the region of Southeast Europe, and this complexity and intricacy of our position will become increasingly pronounced, especially given the fact that the world order is collapsing, that international public law does not exist, the UN order exists only on paper - Vučić says.

He emphasized that Serbia will double its military capabilities in the next year and a half.

- We are no longer a weak and small army as we were until 2015, although we were not weak. We will increase human capacities by 30 percent, and everything else by 100 percent.

A good part comes from our country, and one part we procure abroad. That is the only sure way and method of protecting our country in the future and the only deterrent factor. We will certainly preserve peace and present some systems you did not believe we had.

People can sleep peacefully, our army has a strong deterrent factor. At this moment, there is no danger from a potential aggressor, which does not mean it will not exist in three months or a year.

Our strength is unequivocally greater and stronger than potential aggressors, and it is certain that they would not embark on such an adventure - Vučić said.

He also says that US President Donald Trump has established an organization for dominance in the US in the sphere of energy in the world.

- It operates from the White House and everywhere in the world, wherever possible, including here in Serbia, and will do its utmost to drive out competitors. The Monroe Doctrine, from the first half of the 19th century, the Americans wanted to exploit declining European power in Latin America.

After World War II, America abandoned its isolationist policy and assumed a position of dominance over the entire Eurasian plate.

Today we gave an order for the BIA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to conduct their analyses of the new US security strategy. America received support from only three Latin American countries for this move - Argentina, Ecuador, and Panama - Vučić stated.

Particularly interesting, as he added, is that the President of Brazil is anything but a friend of Nicolas Maduro.

- And Brazil assessed the situation and issued a statement sharply opposing the US intervention in Venezuela. European reactions are - we are glad Maduro is gone, but the principles of the UN must be respected.

Serbia's position is clear, we also took that stance regarding Ukraine, but it is our duty to speak up when there is a violation of international law, and there is also a danger of imposing domestic legislation over international law.

We want Venezuela to recover and build their country, it will be very difficult - Vučić stated.

According to his words, "the entire West had to arrest Slobodan Milošević to justify their crimes against Serbia."



- Both Milošević and most others judged their bad policy, and just as they repeated this with Venezuela, Milošević had to leave precisely on Vidovdan, the humiliation had to be maximal.

Whatever anyone thinks of Milošević, we will never be able to wash that stain and shame from our faces. One of the greatest shames we inflicted upon ourselves and where we disgraced ourselves as a people and a state. They were then looking for some form, they were inventing some tribunals - Vučić emphasizes.

Regarding energy security, he says that major changes are coming. He adds that one of the conclusions of the session is "to rely only on ourselves - on ourselves and our own resources."

- And if some from the region move against us, no one will help us except ourselves. America or great powers will not attack us. In the crazy world we live in, they are shifting from defensive to offensive actions. We will be ready, well prepared. That is why they are waging such a campaign against the army and against me.

We will have the most modern weaponry, double the capacities. It is clear to you what we are procuring at this moment - Vučić stated.

He also says he is certain "that we will preserve peace, but with our own strength, we preserve peace by not attacking anyone, but possessing great deterrent power."

- We must look at how to preserve and protect ourselves, to build good relations with the US, to build good relations with our traditional partners as well.

But we must know that we expect no mercy or help from anyone, the only thing we can expect is from ourselves, from what we build, from what we do - Vučić concluded.
