Vučić announced measures Serbia will take regarding Kosovo

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić presented the measures his country will take following the recent events and tensions in northern Kosovo, reports N1.

Among these measures are demands for fair and free elections, the return of Serbian judges and prosecutors to their legal functions, and the urgent formation of the Community of Serb Municipalities (CSM).

- Serbia is currently in a difficult legal and political situation regarding Kosovo; we are progressing economically very quickly, very well, perhaps even excellently.

But what remains our most painful and difficult point is, without a doubt, Kosovo - Vučić said today, addressing the public.

It was decided, as Vučić stated, on measures in five areas.

- First of all - a return to the status quo ante. That no longer makes sense; we are seeking a return to everything that has been achieved and accomplished in the dialogue process.

We are showing that we are the most responsible in the entire process and believe that for any serious progress in the dialogue, free elections must be called, Article 9 of the Brussels Agreement must be implemented, and Serbs must return to the Kosovo Police Regional Directorate North - Vučić stated.

In the document shared with journalists, it is stated in more detail that a return to the "Quo Ante" status is sought "by eliminating the key consequences of the unilateral and uncoordinated actions of the Kurti regime, which is a necessary prerequisite for significant progress in the dialogue process".

Vučić also said that the return of Serbian prosecutors and judges to their legal duties is being sought, as well as the withdrawal of Kosovo police special forces from northern Kosovo.

- And the urgent, urgent formation of the CSM - said Vučić.

Other areas in which more detailed measures are proposed are:

- Kosovo as an area of special social protection;

- Resistance of Serbian institutions towards Kosovo;

- Establishment of a special prosecutor's office;

- Decision on the illegality of all bodies and institutions formed in the territory of Kosovo after the unilateral declaration of Kosovo's independence.

Vučić announced his address to the public on Tuesday, when he said that he would address the public "within the next 72 hours" and "clearly present the demands and measures against attacks on Serbs in northern Kosovo".

At that time, after a meeting with the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčak, and US Ambassador Christopher Hill, he said that the proposed measures and demands would be "serious".

Vučić announced that he would present a plan and measures regarding Kosovo to the Serbian Parliament during October.

- I am ready for dialogue, I am ready to go and talk with Kurti, to conduct dialogue in Brussels. However, I will not allow a pogrom and persecution of my population, and it is quite clear that this is the sole goal of Kurti's government - asserted Vučić.

Otherwise, the head of the Pristina negotiation team, Besnik Bisljimi, announced on social network X that the technical dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina will be held on Tuesday, September 17, in Brussels.

He denied Tanjug, which had previously reported that Pristina had rejected a direct meeting with the Belgrade delegation at a trilateral meeting mediated by the EU.
