Vučić issues 13 pardon decisions, list includes students, professors and school directors

(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has issued 13 pardon decisions, with the list of pardoned individuals including students, professors and directors of several schools.

This decision came two days after Vučić announced he would pardon students and professors facing criminal proceedings following participation in mass protests that have been organised across Serbia over the past three months.

The protests demand criminal and political accountability from the authorities for the accident in Novi Sad, where 15 people died on 1 November after a canopy collapsed at the railway station.

Students, who are holding dozens of state faculties in Serbia under blockade, demanded that criminal proceedings be halted against demonstrators arrested by police at the protests - among whom were students and professors.

The Serbian Presidency announced that six students were pardoned: D.B. from Novi Sad, M.M. from Novi Sad, M.K. from Novi Sad, I.B. from Požega, R.S. from Sremska Kamenica and M.S. from Žabalj.

Vučić, as stated, pardoned one dean - N.J. from Niš and one assistant professor - R.J. from Novi Sad.

Also, four school directors were pardoned: B.M. from Šabac, M.E. from Bogatić, M.I. from Šabac, S.M.J. from Šabac, as well as one school support worker V.M. from Prokuplje.

The pardon decisions have been submitted to the Ministry of Justice for further procedure.
