(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić congratulated Orthodox Christians on Christmas and specifically sent congratulations on the occasion of the unconstitutional January 9th, the day of Republika Srpska.
"Happy holiday to everyone, especially to our suffering people in Kosovo and Metohija and our people in Republika Srpska who will celebrate their holiday and their day the day after tomorrow," Vučić said.
Speaking about plans for Serbia's development, Vučić said that deep and essential changes must be made in all spheres of life for the country to progress further, and announced that on January 20th, he will present plans and programs for the period until the end of 2026.
"We must find a new goal around which we will agree, which is why Expo is our goal that must develop the country in every segment so that in the future someone can define national goals that we must achieve, to find our angle that will not endanger our European future or friendship with Russia and China," Vučić told "Pink" Television.
He added that in three years, the largest cities in Serbia will be unrecognizable, and more than two billion euros will be invested in their development, as he announced.
Vučić stated that huge investments are needed in infrastructure and the economy, that it is necessary to see what will be done with lithium and gold, and that investments will be made in deep changes in attitudes towards education and science, as well as in the continuation of the re-industrialization of Serbia.
He reminded that last year a record 4.46 billion euros of foreign investments were realized, with a huge number of investments from China, and that growth in investments from other regions and countries, including the United Arab Emirates, is also expected.
Speaking about the return of mandatory military service, Vučić said that Serbia does not have enough soldiers and needs a much stronger army.
"Serbia would be crushed like a fly if it didn't have an army and the most modern systems," Vučić said, adding that an analysis must be made on how to improve and modernize mandatory military service."
