(Patria) - Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić believes that Milorad Dodik, whose mandate as President of Republika Srpska was revoked today by the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is not the generator of the crisis in BiH, but rather that he "responds to what happened".
Vučić stated that Bosnia and Herzegovina "is becoming a hotspot of uncertainty" and that Serbia must stand by its people and Republika Srpska.
- We will do our utmost, and I believe the people in Republika Srpska also want this, to preserve peace and stability, so that people can plan their future. And I hope a way out will be found.
I know it will be neither easy nor quick to emerge from the severe crisis in which, not Republika Srpska through its own fault, I would say, the entire country, that is, Bosnia and Herzegovina, now finds itself - Vučić emphasized.
He appealed to everyone to act calmly, rationally, and to refrain from any escalation.
Asked whether this appeal also applies to Dodik, who wrote on social media: "And what if I don't accept?", Vučić said that the President of Republika Srpska has not accepted that decision and that this is clear to everyone.
- Dodik is now asking the people whether or not they accept the decision of the CEC, that is, the decision of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Because he was elected by the people of Republika Srpska.
Today I also listened to the interpretation of Professor (Vladan) Petrov, who is a top legal expert and specialist in constitutional law, and who spoke very wisely about this - Vučić added.
He asserted that Dodik is not just any generator of the crisis, but that he is merely responding to what happened.
- All in all, our policy will be to always stand by our people and Republika Srpska, but to ensure that we preserve peace and prevent any further escalation - Vučić concluded.
