(Patria) - The Supreme Court of Slovenia today rejected the appeal of the lawyers of the president of the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) and former Prime Minister of that country, Janez Janša, against the verdict of the First Instance Court which found him guilty of insulting journalists Eugenija Carl and Mojca Šetnic Pašek, and sentenced him to a suspended prison sentence.
The Supreme Court, two years after the pronouncement of this verdict, gave its consent to the original verdict and ordered him to pay court costs.
Janša was found guilty of defamation, following a tweet about TV Slovenija journalists, Eugenija Carl and Mojca Šetinc Pašek, reports the portal 24ur, as reported by Tanjug.
He was sentenced to three months in prison suspended, and must pay court costs of 480 euros and the costs of the prosecutors.
He is also obliged to pay compensation for the legal costs of the journalists.
