Montenegrin Government Adopts Two Amendments to the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica

(Patria) - The Government of Montenegro held an electronic session where information on Montenegro's amendments to the Resolution on the Genocide in Srebrenica, which is to be adopted in the middle of this month at the UN, was adopted. The Government instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to send the amendments to the proposer on Monday, stating that responsibility for the crimes is exclusively individual and cannot target a people or states.

The amendments, it is stated, provide for the individualization of guilt for the genocide in Srebrenica, but also insist on strict adherence to Dayton.

The first amendment reads:

"...reaffirming that guilt for the crime of genocide is individualized, and cannot be attributed to any ethnic, religious, or other group or community as a whole..."

The second amendment reads: "...affirming the inviolability of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina in all its provisions....".

With these amendments, as stated by the Government, any potential manipulation to the detriment of Serbia and the Serbian people in terms of any legal and political repercussions is prevented, and the narrative and intention to declare an entire people genocidal is made impossible.
