
(Patria) - The BiH Council of Ministers, at an extraordinary telephone session, adopted the Information from the Ministry of Civil Affairs on the proposal for Bosnia and Herzegovina's participation in the Venice Biennales of Contemporary Art and Architecture for the period 2026 - 2031.
The session accepted the proposal from the Ministry of Education and Culture of Republika Srpska that Bosnia and Herzegovina be represented at the 61st Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2026 by the project of the Museum of Contemporary Art of RS titled: "Domus Diasporica", authored by Mladen Bundalo, with Isidora Živković as the curator and Sarita Vujković as the commissioner.
The BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs is obliged, through the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to submit a Letter of Interest to the Biennale Directorate for Bosnia and Herzegovina's participation in the 61st Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2026.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina is tasked with providing support for the activities aimed at the successful representation of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Venice Biennale.
Based on the Decision on the method of using funds for the needs of Bosnia and Herzegovina's participation in the Venice Biennale in 2026, the BiH Ministry of Civil Affairs is obliged to conclude an agreement with the Museum of Contemporary Art of RS as the final beneficiary of the Grant for non-profit organizations for the needs of Bosnia and Herzegovina's participation in the 61st Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2026.
In this way, the Ministry of Civil Affairs will secure 250,000 KM for the realization of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale. The Ministry of Education and Culture of RS is obliged to provide 200,000 KM.
The adopted Information on the proposal for BiH's participation in the Venice Biennales of Contemporary Art and Architecture for the period 2026 - 2031 defines the schedule for Bosnia and Herzegovina's representation at one of the oldest and most significant festivals on the contemporary art scene. Thus, the Ministry of Education and Culture of RS, through the Ministry of Civil Affairs, will propose to the BiH Council of Ministers the representative for the Venice Biennale of Contemporary Art in 2026 and 2029, while the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports will propose the representative in 2027, 2028, 2030, and 2031.
In case of inability of one of the representatives to participate, according to this representation schedule, the order can be changed with the consent of the competent entity ministries and while maintaining the stated principles.
