(VIDEO) Mass brawl of masked youths in the center of Zagreb

(Patria) - A mass brawl involving about twenty masked youths broke out in Ban Jelačić Square in Zagreb this afternoon.

It is not yet clear whether two groups clashed or if it was an organized attack on an individual or individuals.

Index.hr unofficially learns that several participants in the brawl have been arrested.

After the brawl, part of the group ran east along Jurišićeva Street.

A reader who witnessed the event said that it all happened very quickly and that some fled in the direction of Petrinjska Street.

The Zagreb Police Administration (PU) briefly issued a statement:

"Today, November 12, around 4 PM, a conflict occurred between a larger number of young people in Ban Josip Jelačić Square.

After a short conflict, although the participants fled into the surrounding streets, the Zagreb police noticed smaller groups of people in several locations who were suspected of being connected to the said event.

Several young people are under police supervision in official premises. The determination of all circumstances and criminal investigation are ongoing".

We remind you that earlier today, around 2 PM, the N1 television crew was attacked in a square in Zagreb.

According to that television, an unknown young man first verbally abused the journalists and then physically attacked the cameraman, pushing him and causing a visible eye injury.

The Zagreb police later announced that they had arrested the young man who attacked the journalists. It is not yet known whether these two incidents are related, but the police will determine that.
