(Patria) - Member of the Presidency of BiH Željko Komšić attended the event 'Days of Victory, Days of Pride' held today at Vlašić, where a memorial to the fighters of the Army of RBiH "Mehmed Alagić - Ljiljan Ljuta greda" was unveiled.
In his address, Komšić stated that General Alagić was a great man but of tragic fate.
"His work, which was great and magnificent, let's be human and admit that his fate was tragic. We all know this, there is no need to shy away from it. We will be better people if we say it and admit it. We all know that his heart essentially broke due to injustice, betrayal from the side he did not expect. And this should be said.
Today, there are some other generals who have found themselves in the position that General Alagić was in. Does anyone think about Dudaković, does anyone think about that man? Does anyone think about the people who were unjustly accused for Dobrovoljačka? Let's not wait for their hearts to break from sadness before we gather and say they were great men," said Komšić, whose speech was met with applause.
Mehmed Alagić was one of the greatest heroes during the aggression against Bosnia and Herzegovina. He was first the commander of the 3rd, and then the 7th Corps of the Army of RBiH, and after the war, he retired and became the first post-war mayor of Sanski Most. He passed away on March 7, 2003, at the age of 56.
