Heavy traffic and kilometre-long queues at exits from Bosnia and Herzegovina towards Croatia and Serbia

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Heavy traffic jams formed on Sunday already from the night at the entrance to Croatia. As reported by HAK, at Bajakovo (border crossing with Serbia) the wait is still up to six hours, and on their video wall an endless column of vehicles is displayed. At the entrance to Croatia via border crossings in the northern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the wait is between one and four hours, due to the return of a large number of people who live and work abroad, and authorities are calling for the use of alternative border crossings.

Kilometre-long queues are at the border crossings in Orašje towards Županja, and in Bosanska Gradiška towards Gradiška, where the wait at the border crossing is two hours, while the longest delays are in Donja Gradica towards Jasenovac, where passengers wait four hours, reported BIHAMK.

At the border crossing near Hrvatska Dubica and Hrvatska Kostajnica, the wait is three hours.

Larger crowds towards Croatia are also at the border crossings in northwestern Bosnia, Izačić and Maljevac. Longer delays at the border crossing are particularly noticeable this year after Croatia joined the somewhat stricter Schengen area regime.

Authorities in BiH are calling on citizens to use alternative border crossings.

As reported by BIHAMK, vehicle columns are also at the Brčko, Svilaj and Bosanski Šamac crossings, but the delays are somewhat shorter. Longer waits are also recorded at border crossings with Serbia, and we highlight the Rača and Pavlovića Most border crossings in both directions, and at the Karakaj border crossing at the exit from BiH. At other border crossings, delays are no longer than 30 minutes.
