Major USKOK Operation Across Croatia, 41 Arrested for Corruption and Economic Crime

(Patria) - A major operation by USKOK and the police is underway in Croatia, with 41 people arrested so far. Searches of apartments, cars, and business premises are ongoing.

"Police officers of the Criminal Police Service of the Varaždin Police Administration in cooperation with police officers of the Economic Crime and Corruption Service of PNUSKOK, and police officers from several other police administrations, and in coordination with the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime, based on search warrants issued by the County Court in Zagreb, began on Wednesday, January 17, to carry out several evidentiary actions of searching persons, homes and other premises, as well as personal vehicles and business premises of a larger number of persons suspected of committing criminal offenses against official duty.

The criminal investigation includes 41 individuals residing in the wider area of the Republic of Croatia. Upon completion of the criminal investigation, the arrested persons will be handed over to the detention supervisor of the Zagreb Police Administration, while a criminal complaint will be filed with the Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime," the police announced.

USKOK announced that activities are being carried out concerning several dozen individuals who are reasonably suspected of having committed corrupt criminal offenses.

"After questioning the suspects, USKOK will decide on further action in this case, about which the public will be informed in a timely manner," USKOK announced.
