Major USKOK operation: Around 60 people arrested across Croatia

(Patria) - In a major operation by USKOK, around 60 people have been arrested across Croatia.

USKOK announced that arrests and searches are underway throughout Croatia for tax evasion and corruption-related crimes.

The majority of arrests were carried out in Zagreb and Split, and searches of suspects' homes and business premises are ongoing.

These actions are being conducted in the areas of Zagreb, Zadar, Primorje-Gorski Kotar, Virovitica-Podravina, Šibenik-Knin, Lika-Senj and Istria counties, targeting a number of individuals suspected of committing corruption and economic crimes as part of a criminal association.

According to unofficial information, as reported by Jutarnji list, the arrests were made on suspicion of so-called carousel fraud, i.e., fictitious trade between companies and VAT evasion.
