Major operation in Spain: BiH citizen among those arrested, five tons of cocaine worth 130 million euros seized

(Patria) - In a major police operation conducted in Huelva, a coastal city in southern Spain, a citizen of Bosnia and Herzegovina was arrested along with nine other individuals suspected of cocaine smuggling.

In addition to the BiH citizen, among those arrested are five citizens of Spain, three from Serbia, and one from the Netherlands. During the operation, approximately 5,000 kilograms of cocaine were seized, with an estimated value on the illegal market of over 130 million euros.

The drugs were transported to Spain from Morocco, using speedboats and well-known routes typically used for hashish smuggling. At a press conference, the head of the National Police's Central Narcotics Brigade, Alberto Morales, explained that this was one of the largest seizures in recent times.

During raids on two properties, police found not only a large quantity of drugs but also an arsenal of weapons, including Kalashnikov rifles and GPS jammers. As much as five tons of cocaine were hidden in a facility on a rural estate that served as a warehouse for the criminal organization. The drugs were kept there for several days before further transport.

It was precisely this storage period that the police used to intervene. Agents intercepted a van leaving the estate, which contained 1,300 kilograms of cocaine, while an additional 3,500 kilograms were found inside the facility.

The final destination of the drugs was the Netherlands, where their value would have exceeded 130 million euros.

All ten suspects are in custody, and during the operation, five pieces of military weapons, one pistol, five vehicles, 17 mobile phones, and over 5,000 euros in cash were also seized.
