(Patria) - A large operation searching the property of businessman Aco Đukanović in Podgorica and Rastoci near Nikšić ended after a full fifteen hours, and the businessman and owner of Prva banka was detained around 2:30 AM at the Nikšić Police Center, where he will give a statement to the Basic State Prosecutor's Office in the morning.
According to information from Portal ETV, during the search of premises in Podgorica, the police found no weapons or anything else of police interest. The search of the Đukanović family home in Rastoci, which began around 6 PM last night, lasted more than five hours, and the police even brought in sniffer dogs.
After a detailed search, three hunting rifles were found in the attic of the house. As established, one rifle was once a gift to Milo Đukanović from the Ministry of Defense of Montenegro. The second hunting rifle is registered to Radovan Đukanović, the deceased father of Ana, Aco, and Milo Đukanović. No permit was found for the third rifle, and the police found two old police bulletproof vests and some ammunition in the attic, which are presumed to have been there since 1999, during the NATO bombing of Serbia and Montenegro. At that time, the family home in Rastoci was guarded by the Montenegrin police as a security measure for the then-Prime Minister Milo Đukanović.
After the record was signed, Aco Đukanović was escorted to the Nikšić Police Center around 2:30 AM, without handcuffs, where he will give a statement to the basic prosecutor in the morning.
As Portal ETV previously reported, the Special Police Unit, under the order of the Podgorica Basic State Prosecutor's Office, was searching the property of Aco Đukanović, the brother of the former President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović.
The police operation in the center of Podgorica, involving a large number of Special Unit members in balaclavas and with long weapons, was not accompanied by an official statement. The Police Directorate, as well as the Basic State Prosecutor's Office which ordered the operation, did not comment, even though the street in Podgorica where the residential building is located, in which Aco Đukanović lives among others, and where the premises of Prva Banka and some other shops are located, was blocked until late afternoon.
During the operation, police officers were seen searching and holding security guards working at Prva banka with their hands raised.
The Director of the Police Directorate, Lazar Šćepanović, stated in the afternoon – during a session of the Committee for the Political System, Judiciary and Administration – that he ,,knows everything that is happening in Montenegro“ and noted that he himself had ordered the commander of the Special Police Unit to search the properties of businessman Aco Đukanović.
The operation took place on a day when tensions rose in the Parliament of Montenegro, and the opposition blocked the parliament's work for several hours in protest because the parliamentary majority attempted to adopt amendments to the Law on the Agency for Security and the Law on Internal Affairs, bypassing the previous agreement with the opposition, and without the consent of the European Commission for all amendments.
The police „operation“ was carried out the day after the fugitive convict Miloš Medenica released a video in which he revealed that the Montenegrin police were trying to cover up a clash between criminal groups that occurred on Tuesday, February 24, in the center of Nikšić, when two people were seriously injured.
