(Patria) - Former Croatian Minister of Agriculture Josip Dabro, whose immunity was revoked by the Croatian Parliament, has been arrested based on an order from the Municipal State Attorney's Office in Osijek.
"Police officers today arrested a 42-year-old who will be handed over to the detention supervisor of the Vukovar-Srijem Police Administration.
After that, in cooperation with the state attorney's office, he will be brought to the Municipal State Attorney's Office in Osijek for further proceedings", announced the Vukovar-Srijem Police Administration, without stating the identity.
Regarding the former minister, allegations have emerged about him firing a weapon and giving a firearm to a minor, which is being investigated, Croatian media report.
The Croatian Parliament today removed the immunity of former minister and Member of Parliament from the Homeland Movement, Josip Dabro, at the request of the State Attorney's Office of the Republic of Croatia (DORH).
Dabro resigned from his position as minister in Andrej Plenković's Government on January 18, 2025, after a video leaked to the public showing him firing a pistol while driving a car.
He stated that the video, which was filmed "a few years ago", used a legal weapon and blank ammunition and that he did not "endanger anyone's safety or property", apologizing for the act and expressing regret. Later, ballistics experts stated that live ammunition was used.
