(Patria) - With a ceremonial military march along Vukovar Street in Zagreb, Croatia today marked the 30th anniversary of the military-police operation "Oluja", which liberated Knin and most of the then-occupied territory seized by rebel Serbs and members of the Yugoslav army during the Homeland War.
The ceremony began at 5:00 PM, after which the President of Croatia and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, Zoran Milanović, received the report from the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Croatia, Lieutenant General Tihomir Kundid, and authorized the start of the military march with the command "Let the march begin!".
The military march moved along Vukovar Street from Marina Držić Avenue to Savska Road.
The route is 2.4 kilometers long. The marching column consisted of 24 echelons, and when all of them stood in their respective echelons, the length of the column was about 1,800 meters.
In addition to the Armed Forces, the march included members of the Ministry of the Interior, the Directorate of Civil Protection, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, the Judicial Police, the Croatian Firefighting Association, Croatian veterans, and historical units.
Simultaneously, a naval parade called "Greetings from the Adriatic" was held in the Adriatic waters by the Croatian Navy.
The march concluded with a large pyrotechnic show, fireworks, and smoke bombs in the colors of the Croatian flag.
More than three thousand participants and 500 vehicles passed along Zagreb's Vukovar Street, from Marina Držić Avenue to Savska Road, for two hours.
As part of the march, citizens had the opportunity to see a display of new weaponry and modern military equipment, such as the Bayraktar unmanned aerial vehicle and FPV drones, and a rich cultural and artistic program was also held.
At the very end of the ceremonial march, Rafale fighter jets flew over the sky above Zagreb.
