Three dead men found in a cottage in Croatia

(Patria) - The investigation at the cottage near Velika Ludina, a municipality in Croatia, where the bodies of three men were found yesterday morning, has concluded.

There is still no official confirmation of the causes of death, and criminal investigations to determine all circumstances of the event are ongoing, the Sisak police announced last night.

The investigation was led by the Deputy County State Attorney in Sisak.

It is unofficially known that the three men were cooling grape must with dry ice in the cottage.

It is assumed that a reaction with nitrogen occurred, releasing carbon monoxide (CO), which caused the poisoning of the three men.

The Sisak-Moslavina Police Administration announced that on Saturday morning at 6:30 AM, they received a report that three men in a cottage in the area of Velika Ludina were not feeling well.

After the police arrived, they found the lifeless bodies of three men, with no visible external injuries.

An investigation was conducted at the scene, led by the Deputy County State Attorney in Sisak, in cooperation with experts from the Centre for Forensic Examinations, Research and Expertise from Zagreb.

The bodies were transported to the pathology department of the Sisak General Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death, the Sisak-Moslavina Police Administration stated.

Incidentally, carbon monoxide poisoning is a common occurrence during the grape harvest season, and the police regularly issue warnings to ensure ventilation of rooms with grape must during these activities.

The grape harvest in Moslavina began in mid-August, a month earlier than the usual start of the harvest.
