Mother and daughter killed in car and truck collision

(Patria) - In a collision between a car and a truck of Lithuanian registration carrying passenger cars, on Thursday around 9:30 AM near Zaprešić, a 44-year-old woman and her minor daughter, who were not wearing seatbelts, were killed, the Zagreb Police Department (PUZ) announced.

The police specified that the 44-year-old woman, for reasons yet to be determined, drove her car with Krapina registration plates into the opposite lane of state road number 1 on the Gubaševo - Čvor Zaprešić section in the southern direction, colliding with a truck with Lithuanian plates driven by a 41-year-old Lithuanian citizen, who was pulling a trailer with eight cars.

As a result of the collision, the 44-year-old woman's vehicle was thrown onto soft ground on the west side of the road where it stopped, while the Lithuanian truck was thrown onto soft ground on the east side, where it stopped in the northwest direction.

In the traffic accident, the 44-year-old driver and her daughter died, while the 41-year-old driver sustained minor injuries and received medical assistance at the Emergency Medicine Institute of Zagreb County - Zaprešić branch.

Traffic on the section of state road number 1, between the Kupljenovo interchange and the Bistra interchange, was completely suspended from 10 AM to 4:30 PM, with traffic diverted to alternative routes.

An on-site investigation was conducted by the Deputy County State Attorney in coordination with the PUZ investigation team, and it was determined that the 44-year-old driver and the child were not wearing seatbelts while driving. After the investigation, the bodies were transported to the Institute of Forensic Medicine and Criminology.
