Record drug seizure in Serbia: Police seize five tons of marijuana worth up to 10 million euros near Kruševac

(Patria) - Serbian police yesterday, in cooperation with the Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime, seized five tons of marijuana in the village of Konjuh near Kruševac.

According to Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić, this is the largest drug seizure to date in Serbia, with an estimated value of seven to ten million euros.

Dačić stated that N.S. (1986) and R.S. (1958) were arrested in this operation, while one person is being sought, due to grounds for suspicion that they committed the criminal offenses of unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs and illegal production, possession, carrying, and trafficking of weapons and explosives.

In addition to the narcotic drug, firearms were also found - at least four automatic rifles and one "zolja" (rocket launcher), as well as money amounting to over 1,500,000 dinars (about 12,700 euros).

The Public Prosecutor's Office for Organized Crime announced that the arrested individuals are suspected of being members of an organized criminal group.

The statement indicated that this organized criminal group stored the narcotic drug marijuana in the premises of the economic entity Florakom d.o.o., from where it was further distributed to the territory of the city of Belgrade for sale.

The Prosecutor's Office emphasized that searches are still ongoing, and that the suspects will be brought to the prosecutor's office after police detention, after which they will be questioned.
