21 ton of marijuana seized in North Macedonia, traces lead to former Prime Minister Zoran Zaev's family

(Patria) - 21 tons of marijuana were seized this morning in North Macedonia from a company close to the Social Democratic Union of Macedonia and former Prime Minister of that country, Zoran Zaev, Macedonian media report. In the previous three days, a total of 60 tons of marijuana were discovered in that country in separate operations.

In a large police operation, 21 tons of marijuana were seized from the company CBD Medplant from Bosilovo in Novo Selo, the Macedonian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced.

The official owner of the company is Hristijan Kotev, but according to local media information, Toni Kočev, former president of the SDSM branch in Novo Selo, actually controls the company.

North Macedonian police forces found almost 40 tons of marijuana in the previous two days – 27 tons on Thursday and almost 10 tons of marijuana on Friday, which is directly linked to five tons previously confiscated in Serbia.

The operation by the Macedonian police followed the discovery of five tons of marijuana in Serbia, after which Serbian authorities announced that the drug originated from North Macedonia and was intended for the local market, and that it was stored in a warehouse connected to a family from the village of Konjuh near Kruševac.

At the center of the investigation is the trading company "Alfafarm DOO Skoplje", registered in 2023 for the cultivation and processing of plants, aromatic and medicinal herbs for pharmaceutical needs.

According to registry data, the company has a share capital of approximately 529,000 euros and has multiple co-owners, with changes in ownership structure occurring shortly before the seizure of five tons in Serbia.

According to official information, five people are suspected in Serbia, two of whom are still unavailable to law enforcement agencies, and they are charged with unauthorized production and trafficking of narcotic drugs.

The number of suspects and the exact qualifications of criminal offenses in the Macedonian part of the investigation have not yet been announced.
