(Patria) - The Port Authority in Makarska issued an order yesterday to the owner to remove the wreck of the 30-metre yacht Acceptus, which burned in a fire last week, and to prevent possible pollution, the sinking site has been secured.

- The yacht burned completely and it was determined that the material damage is three million euros and that five tonnes of fuel remained in the tank, so the area around the wreck has been cordoned off for 50 metres to prevent possible pollution - Ante Bilić, director of Makarska Obala, told Hina.

He explained that in such cases, owners are legally obliged to find a solution for removing the vessel, which is expected by the end of the week. The yacht flew the Maltese flag, but its owner, Bilić notes, is a Croatian citizen.

The fire on the vessel, which was moored at the quay in Makarska, broke out on Saturday night while three crew members were on board. No one was injured as they left the vessel in time before it sank to the bottom.

The fire was extinguished by firefighters from the Makarska Riviera, led by the Makarska Public Fire Department, with about 15 tankers.
