12 houses burned down in a fire in Croatia, cars and an oil mill also caught fire...

(Patria) - A large fire broke out early this morning in the area of Pisak, east of Omiš.

Almost simultaneously, a new fire broke out in the area of Dubci - Slime. All available firefighting forces are on the scene.

The Adriatic Highway is closed to all traffic. Firefighters from Baška Voda have been fighting a difficult battle with the fire in recent hours - and a sense of injustice. At least 12 houses burned down in the large fire that ravaged the area of Marušići and Mimice in the Split-Dalmatia County, and the Orgula oil mill in Marušići was also damaged.

Siniša Mihanović, deputy head of the Split-Dalmatia Police Department, said that the most dangerous situation is currently in the area of Mimice, near Omiš.

- In this context, we are working together with all other services, if necessary, to help citizens get out of dangerous situations and dangerous places to move them to a safe place. As for this morning, I must say that we are still intensively investigating fires in the Makarska and Omiš areas in recent days in terms of criminal offenses, such as arson. This has been undeniably established by the investigation. So, all forces are in the Makarska area, we are doing everything to get to the perpetrators as soon as possible, and to help citizens get out of this truly very dangerous situation, which is now particularly in the Mimice area. That is our priority, said Mihanović.
