(Patria) - Speaker of the Parliament of North Macedonia Afrim Gashi confirmed that the eighth local elections in the country will be held on October 19.
Gashi signed the decision to call the elections, thus respecting the legal deadline which stipulates that between 70 and 90 days must pass from the day of the call to the holding of the elections.
The decision was made in accordance with Article 12 of the Election Law.
With the calling of the elections, the deadlines for carrying out all electoral activities have also officially begun.
The entire process will take place according to a calendar yet to be approved by the State Election Commission.
On October 19, citizens will elect mayors and council members in 80 municipalities and in the city of Skopje.
The second round of elections for mayors is scheduled for November 2, and will be held in those local self-government units where the winner is not decided in the first round.
