Car chase in Zagreb with shots fired, police on high alert

(Patria) - Residents of Trakošćanska and Kneginečka streets in Zagreb's Trešnjevka neighborhood witnessed late this afternoon shots being fired from one moving vehicle towards another. As can be seen in the photo provided to Jutarnji list, an unknown person, for reasons still unknown, shot the rear of another car carrying at least three men.

According to witnesses, as soon as they reached a dead-end street and couldn't go any further, "they ran out of the vehicle and continued running frantically, jumping over the stairs onto Klenovička".

One of the witnesses told 24sata that three people fled from the shot car and that they heard from the police that four men were involved in the whole incident, that they were chasing each other with cars, and that they found a cap on the street.

- As far as we understood from others in the street, the drivers of those two cars were chasing each other down Trakošćanska, driving in a slalom, and then they turned into that small street, not knowing there was no other way out for a car. The police are questioning all persons who were on the street and are looking into the vehicle, but they haven't entered it yet. They are probably waiting for the forensics team to collect evidence - says a resident of Kneginečka for Jutarnji.

Another neighbor says she heard that the police were asking if they all had video surveillance on their houses, buildings, and nearby shops.
- I don't know if the police found anyone near that car when they arrived, and they arrived very quickly. It's a disgrace that something like this is happening and that they are settling scores on the streets, not caring if someone gets hurt. We are increasingly resembling the Wild West, and it seems everyone can easily get their hands on a weapon these days - explains another neighbor on the corner with Trakošćanska.

A police investigation is underway to determine all the circumstances of the confrontation that occurred around 4 PM, which could result in at least one criminal complaint for endangering life and property once the perpetrator(s) are found.
