(Patria) - There are 800,000 residents in Croatia aged between 60 and 75, according to data presented yesterday by HSU candidate for the European Parliament Ema Culi.
In her opinion, this represents challenges in social welfare, healthcare and the pension system, and calls for a shift in policy thinking and the creation of measures.
The main goal of the Croatian Party of Pensioners is a healthy and sustainable life for pensioners and the elderly population.
- Only in Zagreb there are about 188,000 pensioners. They do not deserve to beg for their health and wait on kilometre-long lists for an examination or procedure, because by the time they get their turn, some of them may no longer be alive - Culi pointed out.
She states that it is also common practice for patients, especially the elderly, after a long wait in line, to be informed that the information system is not working or that diagnostic devices are faulty.
- Elderly citizens are also affected by the poor air quality in Zagreb, which is choking in garbage. Asthmatics and lung patients are particularly affected. We believe this situation must be urgently resolved.
We remind that the mayor of Zagreb (Tomislav Tomašević) won the elections precisely on the basis of promises - that the city would be clean and that garbage would be recycled - said Culi, noting that there is no trace of green transition, healthy and sustainable life in Zagreb.
