In Croatia, citizens are urged: Don't call 195 to find out the time, it's not that number

(Patria) - The Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure has appealed to citizens not to call the number 195 to find out the time.

"The number 195 is a free emergency number that is used in Croatia exclusively for reporting maritime accidents and emergency situations at sea. Therefore, we ask citizens not to use this number to check the exact time and similar information.

Namely, the National Centre for Coordination of Search and Rescue at Sea (MRCC Rijeka) has received a large number of misdirected calls to the emergency number 195 in the last two days, based on information circulating on social media according to which the number 195 is allegedly intended for checking the exact time," the statement said.

The Ministry notes that in Croatia, calling the number 195 contacts MRCC Rijeka, the central point of the search and rescue system at sea, which operates 24 hours a day in coordination with port authorities, coastal stations, and maritime, air, and land units.

"Unjustified calls made to this number in Croatia hinder the effective work of the service and can endanger real rescue operations. We call on citizens to use the number 195 exclusively in cases of real maritime danger or accident. Thank you for your understanding and responsible behavior," the Ministry stated.

Otherwise, the telephone number for the exact time in Croatia used to be 95. And now it is 18095. Although it is hard to imagine that someone would use it in the digital age, it is obvious that there are people who obtain information about the exact time in this way.
