Mass protests in Belgrade today, numerous road blockades announced

(Patria) - Protests and road blockades will be held at several locations in Belgrade today, and students have called on citizens to go on a general strike.

High school graduates from Belgrade announced that they will organize a "class in nature" and blockade the roundabout near the Ušće shopping center.

The plan is for a group of graduates at 11:52 AM to hold a fifteen-minute commemoration for those who perished at the Novi Sad railway station at the intersection of Kneza Miloša and Nemanjina streets. After that, they will proceed on a walk and cross the Branko's Bridge to reach Ušće.

Another group of graduates will start from Zemun Gymnasium and head to the municipality of Novi Beograd, where a 15-minute silence is announced for 11:52 AM.

Then, they will proceed along Mihajla Pupina Boulevard to Ušće, where they will meet with other protest participants.

From 12:45 PM to 1:30 PM, a 45-minute blockade of the roundabout at Ušće is planned, lasting one school hour.

After that, a joint walk in Novi Beograd is announced, from Ušće to the municipality of Novi Beograd.

The graduates have invited citizens to join them on the walk and support them in this way.

As Danas unofficially learns, organized gathering of educational workers is not planned, but some teachers will join the graduates.

According to information, employees of several institutes within the University of Belgrade will gather today at 11 AM at Slavija and join the graduates in Nemanjina.

The initiative "Most ostaje" (The Bridge Remains) has called on citizens to come today to the tenth blockade of Takovska 10 at 11:52 AM, where they will call on the RTS collective to interrupt its regular program for 15 minutes.

"After the blockade, we will go to the Institute for Blood Transfusion to donate blood and replenish insufficient reserves. This will also justify your absence from work on Friday, January 24, and you will join the general strike to which we have been called by our students and our conscience," stated the initiative "Most ostaje".

A large number of companies, schools, and organizations have announced that they will not be working today. The NADA Coalition announced that "as part of the justified general strike of citizens against Vučić's regime at 11:52 AM, they will block the E75 highway."
