Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade Opens Case, Students Demand Answers from Serbian MUP: Who Used the Sound Cannon If You Didn't?

(Patria) - The First Basic Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has opened a case and ordered the Serbian MUP to determine whether pyrotechnic devices, weapons, or other dangerous means that could have endangered the gathered citizens were used during the protest organized by students in blockade "15 for 15".

The case was opened after a loud and unusual sound was heard during yesterday's student protest, during 15 minutes of silence for the 15 victims in Novi Sad, causing panic, running, pushing, and falling among the gathered citizens on Kralja Milana Street in Belgrade.

It was also ordered to determine whether any of the gathered citizens were injured and, if so, to obtain medical documentation on the type and severity of the injuries sustained, the First Basic Public Prosecutor's Office announced.

After establishing the complete and accurate factual situation, the Prosecutor's Office announced it would decide whether the actions of currently unknown individuals constitute the elements of the criminal offense of causing general danger or another criminal offense prosecuted ex officio.

The request ordered the police to determine whether information is accurate that certain individuals with ailments, after this event, contacted the Citizens' Association Belgrade Center for Human Rights, and if so, to determine their number and obtain their data, as well as data on other individuals with knowledge regarding possible injuries of those present at the protest.

On the X account of Students in Blockade, a statement was also published demanding answers from the MUP about who used illegal weapons, if not the MUP, and how they explain the health ailments of those gathered. After that post, another followed announcing the continuation of blockades because the demands have not been met.
