(Patria) - The national team players of Bosnia and Herzegovina completed their first training session in Salt Lake City, the base of our team at the World Cup.
All players led by coach Sergej Barbarez trained at the Real Salt Lake Stadium, with Haris Tabaković, after stretching with the rest of the team, training separately and it is still not certain whether he will be ready for either of the next two matches. Numerous Bosnian fans came to the stadium, and the players signed autographs and took photos.
Bosnia and Herzegovina striker Jovo Lukić had the honor of being the first scorer for our national team at the World Cup.
In the 21st minute of the match against Canada, Lukić reacted cleverly in the hosts' penalty area and headed the ball into the net for a great celebration by our fans in Toronto, as well as throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world.
The hero of our selection addressed the public before the first training session of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Salt Lake City, which is the base of the Dragons at this year's World Cup.
"We have to approach the match against Switzerland seriously and try to win if we want something more. Switzerland - Qatar 1:1? We are all aware that the Swiss were better, we also have quality, we'll see what happens," said Lukić.
Jovo Lukić made World Cup history, given that he became the first player with nine or more won aerial duels in a single match. Our striker did not lose a single aerial duel, which is particularly impressive.
"There are anecdotes, the players told me, I thought they were joking, but later I checked, it's really true. It's a nice feeling to be in World Cup history," said our striker, who re-watched the match against Canada:
"Yes, I don't know, the impressions haven't settled yet, I don't know what to say. This all feels like a dream. It was my dream to play at the World Cup, I played and scored a goal for my country. As far as I'm concerned, I could die tomorrow."
The popularity of Jovo Lukić has skyrocketed, and when asked by Vijesti.ba about how he is coping with this new role as a national hero, Lukić replied:
"My wife tells me, you're popping out of the fridge even. I don't pay too much attention to it. I don't really watch the media. If you follow too much, you get too burdened."
"I want to thank everyone, the support means a lot to me and I hope I will make everyone happy a few more times," concluded our brilliant striker.
Bosnia and Herzegovina will complete a total of three training sessions in Salt Lake City, and a flight to Los Angeles is scheduled for June 17, where a day later they will play the second round match of Group B against Switzerland.
After the first round, all four teams in the group have one point each and an identical goal difference of 1:1, guaranteeing that everything will be open until the end of Group B.
