Tragedy in Zagreb: Baby dies during home birth, woman from Austria arrested

(Patria) - Zagreb police have arrested a 69-year-old Austrian citizen on suspicion of negligent treatment resulting in death, following a tragic event during a home birth in Zagreb.

As announced by the Zagreb Police Department, the arrested woman, an internationally certified midwife, is suspected of providing professional assistance to a 42-year-old mother during the birth of twins in an apartment. One child died during the birth.

The tragedy occurred on the night of September 4th to 5th in the Zagreb area. After a criminal investigation, the 69-year-old was handed over to the detention supervisor with a report for the criminal offense of negligent treatment.

The competent authorities are continuing the investigation into this case.
