SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Croatian President Zoran Milanović criticized Western countries for supplying Ukraine with tanks and other weapons and stated that Crimea will never again be part of Ukraine, writes the British newspaper The Guardian today.
The newspaper writes that Milanović told reporters in Zagreb that he is "against sending any weapons" to Ukraine, and that supplying Ukraine with weapons only prolongs the war.
They also cite Milanović's statement that military support for Ukraine is deeply immoral because there is no solution to the war, and that the arrival of German tanks in Ukraine would only serve to bring Russia closer to China.
They also quoted Milanović's statement about Crimea, the Black Sea peninsula that Russia occupied and annexed in 2014: "It is clear that Crimea will never again be part of Ukraine."
"Milanović has taken a stance against the EU since being elected as a left-wing and liberal candidate in 2019, and has aligned his policy with that of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and the secessionist leader of Bosnian Serbs, Milorad Dodik," writes The Guardian.
The text also states that the presidential office in Croatia is mostly ceremonial, but that Milanović is formally the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.
"In recent months, he has openly opposed Finland and Sweden's accession to NATO, as well as the training of Ukrainian troops in Croatia as part of the EU's aid to that endangered country," reports Index.hr.
