
(Patria) - Serbian Railways Infrastructure issued a statement this evening regarding the collision of two trains in the tunnel between Vuk's Monument and Pančevo Bridge in Belgrade, stating that the passenger train ran into a stationary train waiting for further movement.
"Tonight at 18:26, an accident occurred on the railway near Pančevo Bridge, when the BG Voz, which was traveling from Karađorđev Park towards Ovča, ran into the rear of a freight train that was stationary on the track near Pančevo Bridge, waiting for further movement," stated Serbian Railways Infrastructure.
According to initial information from the scene, the driver and conductor of the BG Voz, as well as a number of passengers, were injured in this train collision, the statement said.
"The accident happened at the exit of the Vračar tunnel, in the direction of Pančevo Bridge. MUP representatives, ambulance services, and firefighters have been notified of the accident."
"A joint commission for extraordinary events will determine the causes of this collision after collecting all information," the statement reads.
The injured persons were transported to the Emergency Center, to the resuscitation unit due to the mechanism of injury. One female and three male individuals sustained injuries.
Nine more people were examined, but they did not require hospital treatment.
